That would depend on where you were going. The north is very cold from November to April. The South is very hot June to September.

It depends on what you want to see and do. West Coast weather is nice year round... too nice in fact such that there isn't as much snow for skiing these days. The midwest is nice but the distances between each place is large. If you're into nature, then fall is a great time especially apple picking.

I always say the best time of the year to have a holiday is when the weather is excellent. The cheapest AND the most interesting time is actually when it is the worst weather... then is when u really get to know people...

It depends where exactly you want to go.For Florida,California summer is way too hot,so maybe after September. But the northern states are not that hot during the summer and the attractions won't be closed.

For Boston and the East Coast- I'd agree with the previous responses. Try to avoid the East Coast on the summer- way too hot. If you are talking about different parts of the US, it depends on the state/area, as they are entirely different.

America, as in the continent? Or Boston, the city? I have to agree that New England is spectacular in the fall -- the foliage peaks the first two weeks of October. Plan in advance, though, because a lot of other people will have the same idea. Hotels will charge a premium, and will be booked well in advance. For a treat, get out of Boston and visit the rest of New England -- just outside of Boston, you can stay in a 400 year old inn in Sudbury (the Wayside Inn), and get a look at Lexington and Concord, where the American Revolution started. Farther north, Franconia Notch in New Hampshire is unforgettable in autumn. As far as the rest of the country, well, each region has its seasonal peculiarities. The southeast is hot and humid in summer - spring and fall are best. Summer is best for the Mountain West and the Pacific Northwest. Each region of California has its own microclimate: L.A. can be hot and smoggy in summer, though only for short periods. The Central Coast (an unmissable drive) on north can get heavy fog and be surprisingly chilly in summer, but that's part of its atmosphere. San Francisco is the coldest spot in California during the summer, but is beautiful in late spring and fall. Winter can be rainy throughout the whole state. Hawaii is beautiful all year!

I agree...Autumn is best but go early enough so the attractions are still open. Boston can be very cold from mid October through mid April...then hot in the summer.
