Praga district. Full of "old Warsaw" climate and interesting places (such as clubs). It is also called a "bohema" of Warsaw :)

In my opinion in the first place you should see The Warsaw Rising Museum and The Center for Contemporary Art in Ujazdowski Castle.
Jewish Cemetery (Warsaw, district Wola) is a very interesting place.
You should definitely take a walk and try to find short sections of Warsaw Ghetto Wall.
After all you can go to Freta Street in the old town where are plenty of nice restaurants and cafes.
Have a nice trip!
These are Web sites of the places I mentioned.

Grab a map, grab a bike and just see where it takes you. obviosuly get off the standard busy streets. and visit one of the cheap 'milk bars' for a real communist experience

don't really bother about the touristy stuff! have a vert, very quick look around the Old Town, Lazienki park and maybe Wilanow if you must, but the best is where the "natives" go + the Warsaw Uprising Museum. so, check out Praga, take a walk around the southern zone of the center, and do try the little bars behind Nowy Swiat street (any hostel employee will tell you how to get there).

Must see old Jewish district in center of Warsaw (Próżna / Twarda streets, Grzybowski square), Etnografic Museum (Kredytowa str) and Poster Museum (Wilanów).
I recommend caffee shops "Szczotki pędzle" (Tamka str) and "Pochwała niekonsekwencji" (Grójecka str).

Warsaw is very interesting, and i mean general tourist routes too. I think Old City is nice for a walk, but only by late-evening/night time. Too much tourist-pulp on your way by day-time. It was completely rebuild after WWII, becouse Germans buried Warsaw to the ground when they were withdrawing. Powązki cementary is a good place for a walk too - it is very beautifull - it is a place where a famous, noble and great people are buried. And there is something about Parks - all of them are somehow "wild" - there are no fences, you could sit on lawns, and nobody would bother you (ok - in most of the parks). If you want to go to the club you should check 'Powiększenie', 'Plan B' or 'Obiekt Znaleziony' - those places are for people who like alternative music (sometime very alt - like noise, free jazz etc). if you like theatres you should check Narodowy Theater, Teatr Dramatyczny (in Palace of Culture) or TR (very modern) - there are the best dramas... You should also Muranów cinema - it is well known cinema in Europe, which plays not only blockbusters... Some of our cafee houses are very interesting - Czuły Barbarzyńca, numery Litery, Kawka or Tarabuk. skipping to architecture - you must see Warsaw University Library. It has a beautiful garden on the roof, and quite smart and nice inside. But the best way to sightsee Warsaw is to just get into random tram and go...
