Recomiendo tomar un taxi "hasta parada de guagua para Puerto Plata" preguntar precio antes de subir al taxi, NO tomar taxi pirata. Preguntar a la gente dominicana si el precio es razonable. Caribe Tours viaja de lujo a Puerto Plata, horarios poco flexibles, mejor guaguas populares, mas barato, muchos horarios continuos, mas autentico, pagas por el asiento si lo llenas con maletas. Aprende algo de español. Suerte!

u wont have a problem finding a bus to pto plata ... its the biggest city on the north coast. all buses stop there on their way along the north coast :)

I have been twice to Dom Rep. The first time we took a bus from Santo Domingo to Cabarete which was recommended for night life, etc. we passed through Puerto Plata before getting to Soshua to get a taxi for Cabarete. Puerto Plata was very known from what i remember. It's a place with many hotels on the North part of the island. Soshua and Cabarete which are known destinations too, are very close.
