It is technically possible to ship them freshly caught and on ice from Maryland, but it MUST be rushed and cold-shipped, and then MUST be consumed immediately. My parents did that once after we moved away. It's ungodly expensive, however.

I suppose if you look in a city in northern Virgina along the Chesapeake Bay you might find a restaurant.

Maryland is really the only place for Maryland Blue Crabs. I live in Maryland, and I can tell you that.

Honestly, there isn't. Maryland Blue Crabs do not ship well - since they are the type of seafood that you must kill and eat immediately, this is important - they only have about a 50% survival rate. You can get Blue Crab that has been flash-frozen just about anywhere in the country. But for a crab-house experience, you gotta stay close to the Chesapeake. However, if you want to try Northern Virginia, Captain Pell's in Fairfax Virginia is good. Or you can head down to Virginia Beach - just about any raw bar there will have good crab and other seafood. But yea, as Jo M. said, they're getting overfished, so Blue Crab is getting more and more expensive. You do better finding Alaskan crabs.

Since I moved away from MD, I've been disappointed with crab selections everywhere. Nowhere else do they pick crabs, and a lot of places don't even have Old Bay! This other guy is right they are being over fished, so since they're not worth it anywhere else, I'd say forget 'em. I'd bet Maine or Alaska would have some good crabs if your go there. Good Luck.
