I did by land, takes a day. DON'T take any bus fron Khao San Road to Cambodia!! It s a big scam, they keep people waiting for hours at the border, "force" you to get your visa at an expensive price with an agency, they drive slowly and you arrive in siem reap late and have to stay in a specific guesthouse where the bus driver gets commission!! It happens to some friends. You can totally do it yourself and it will be hassle free. From mochit bus terminal in Bangkok, take a bus to the border town Aranya Prathet (about 200 - 230THB i think), there you take a tuk tuk to go to the border (60 or 80 THB). Walk straight, don't talk to any of the touts that will try to sell you a visa. It is no problem to get you visa on arrival despite what they will tell you. It's 20$ + 1$ of "tip". Have the right amount and 1 picture. At the border, you can either grab a taxi (12$) or a bus (9$) to siem reap. Fixed price. It seems long but it is ok. There are frequent buses and you will save time doing yourself rather than with the slowly scam bus!

By land is more interesting. If you have some days you can see a lot of nice places. I crossed the border in Aranya Prathet/Poipet and it's an experience worth to do.

The bus from bangkok to the border. After that a shared cab or bus. The road to cambodia city's is rebuild and smooth, so no need to fly.

Definitively by bus: Short trip (only about 6 hours with our bus). Then sleep in Aranyaprathet. In the morning enjoy the border Aranyaprathet - Poipet. It's really worth to do it - even with headache (actually I didn't have any). Price was ok.

I did it by bus, and it was horrible. 12hours, very incomfortable.... I don't recommend. But it was cheap. If you have money choose the flight! :o)

I did it by land - Train (It is inexpensive and enjoyable) No worries. The order crossing was easy-breezy. Have fun... Good Journeys!

I would recommend train or bus. train is a bit cheaper but it takes longer and also the train leaves at around 5 am.

Bangkok = Water market and temples. The cheapest shopping is there too. Then get out and see the beautiful beaches around the rest of the country.

By land or sea for sure...not air, unless you are very short on time. It's such a popular area, don't waste the money on flying.

Travel to Trat/Ko Chang by train or bus and then you can take a boat over the boarder.

Forget bus and train. With discount airlines such as Air Asia, you can book a direct flight to Phnom Penh for around $75US oneway, saving all the headaches.
