I think the best thing to do is to fly to a random big airport in Europe (Frankfurt, London or Paris) and then rich South Africa from there. Looks like there are no direct flight.

I think the best way is for you to fly to NYC, Washington DC, or Atlanta. There are direct flights from each of those cities to South Africa. Most of them make a one hour refueling stop in Dakar, Senegal, but you do not get off the plane.

I concur with Paolo M. From previous experience I know there is no direct flight. Follow his strategy.

I flew with BA to New York, then London, then Cape Town. I had a 4 hour stopover in NY, and a 12 hour stopover in London, but both big flights were at night, so I got to sleep on the plane and had all day free to wander around in London. Might not be the ideal way to go, but I enjoyed it!

i think that both SAA and Delta fly from US to South Africa with a stop in Accra. You can fly to NYC and then from there to Johannesburg or Cape Town. Flights available also from Washington DC. Cheers

If you are a frequent flyer on AC then suugest you try and link up to SAA at IAD, LHR, FRA or MUC. Another *A partner which will give you miles is LH and they fly from FRA or MUC.

Fly from Montreal to either London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt and transfer to a direct flight to Johannesburg.

That depends on your actual detination in South Africa as different airlines fly to Cape Town vs Joburg, etc. I flew from Canada down to Atlanta and across from there. That was the cheapest route for me to get to Joburg, and also the quickest route I've taken. Flying to Africa via Paris was nice, but took me longer.
