You picked a wonderful destination...pretty much anywhere is good i loved it! You should go to Cafe des Artistes and also La Palapa unique!Try these! I would suggest going on a cruise on an island...you can do pretty much anything there...from nature walks to scuba diving to eating octopus pasta to about anything else you could imagine!

A great restaurant is Cafe des Artistes in the art district (in the central city area). It's not cheap but it's good!
A good day excursion is a trip to the site where the movie "Predator" was filmed. You can go swimming in the natural pool. There is also a place to eat as well.

go to Las Caletas ... only accessible by boat ... sail past Los Arcos on the way ... Las Caletas looks like the Caribbean - bluer water, whiter sand. good snorkeling and kayaking there, lots of nature trails, and hammocks hung everywhere to just lay in and take in the view :)

It depends on what you're looking for, and where you're staying. I first went to PVR about 15 years ago and then as now, still find viejo (old) Vallarta to be the best area to browse and for restaurants. If you're staying in nuevo (new) or at or near the marina, just take a bus in. Banderas Bay (Playa de los muertos) offers some good people watching, but the beach isn't as good as farther north or at Bucerias (North)or Mismaloya (South). Take a bus up to Rincon de Guayabitos - a nice small town on a great beach about 30 minutes north of the airport. (You have to walk in from the road). Great cevice at a restaurant aptly named "Restaurant" on the far side of the bay. Drop down to Mismaloya, or take a panga from Boca to Yelapa on the far south west end of the bay. The river that flows into the bay at Boca (mouth) offers some good sunning and dipping into very clean, cool water farther up the river - accessible best by car. There are also hot springs north of town, accessible only by Jeep. Walk the malecon to find lots of American-style nightlife if that floats your boat. Be sure to visit the market and don't miss Lays - the local (large) groery store at the north end of the malecon. Great baking and cheap hot dogs. Avoid cabs wherever possible - especially from the airport. The bus is cheap. reliable and fun. By the way - there are great seafood tacos (tacos de mariscos) right across the highway from the airport. Don't miss them.
Have fun!

WHATEVER YOU DO, do not get on the Marigalante Pirate Ship. The worst experience of my life in Puerto with my family and 75 year old grandmother. So tacky, crude, disgusting. Spend your time on the beach, at the spa and adventuring on your own!! It's very tropical but great views. Best of luck!

There is a place, very near, it es a beach where you'll find the most beautiful hotel. The name of the beach, Mismaloya. The nema of the hotel, La jolla de Mismaloya. There many year ago, Richard Burton and Deborah Kerr filmed The night of the Iguana. And if you wantm you can ealk up the hill downtown and find Burton and LIz's house. You can pay a visit there
