Its not as cheap as Asia, but cheaper than UK. Chile is most expensive and perhaps Nicaragua, Bolivia the cheapest. Its all relative. High season is Uk winter and semana sanat when all prices can double. apart from this not much variation i'd say. www,mexicotravelplan.co.uk

High season is roughly June to September and November to January/February in most countries in SA. Tours like galapagos, inca trails etc will be more pricey at these times.

South America is pretty cheap in most cases, the most expensive would be Brazil and chilie and might want to planned around off seasons...but these vary when and where your going...like winter in chilie can be high season in the mountains for skiing. but generally its summer December - February..

Depending in the time that you may come. If you want to come in summer.. most people is at the beach, higher prices- not much higher- but everyone is there. or the opposite, if you come in winter, our winter: June-july-august- most people would be at the sierra or country.. expect not as high as europe, but more than USA.

the prices in South America aren´t really different in different times of the year. Everything is a lot cheaper then in North America or Europe. I am sure you will enjoy South America, there are so many beautiful places and sceneries.

If you're planning to go to South America don't worry about money. Everything is a lot cheaper than North America or Western Europe, even in high season.

For the money: do no go from may until october/november. It is the high season. For the best weather: DO go from may until november. It is the dry season and it is just more comfortable. Overall: go in may or september/oktober. It is a bit of both.

I was in Peru (Lima, Cusco, Iquitos, Nazca) in March 2009. The trip of my life so far... I can't really tell if it was the cheapest season, (something like end of August for us in Greece) but to be honest, everything looked cheap to me... If you are from North America, i think it will happen to you too.
