It depends what you want to see : Luzern has a central position and it can be usefull to start excursions in the beautiful mountains around. Basel is more interesting for history, culture (there is now in the "kunstmuseum" a Van Gogh exhibition with 50 paintings, this museum is one of the most important art museum of Europe) and Basel has the best weather of all switzerland. Bern is a awesone (and small city for the capital of a country) and from a hill near the center, you have a wonderful view on the the river and the town (village?). So cute! I could advise : visit the three places !!!

Go to Bern of course!!! What a question;-)! But u know, that if u have a few days, u can c Bern, Basel and Lucerne? Well, don't miss Lucerne, it's very touristy, but relaxed and scenic as well. And I guess u will have to go to Zurich as well. Don't miss the alps and enjoy the lakes!

Definitely Luzern, it is my most favourite city in Switzerland. Lots of things to see, plus lots of heritage like the wooden bridges, the lion carved in stone plus close to the mountains!

Hi there! Well, Swiss people are very peculiar about their region. So all answers you got so far (if they were from Swiss people) were most likely in favour of their own region :-) As being Swiss myself, I will do nothing else: the nicest place to go is Lucerne :-D It is in a very central location, has a lot to offer (culture, nightlife, nice hotels, good food, festivals) and if you like to see mountains, this is definitely the best place to go from the three. And, last but not least, it has a lake which the others haven't :-)

I would recommend Lucerne. You are about in the middle of the country, right at a beautiful lake and close to the mountains. The city is just lovely. Basel in my opinion is too industrial and a bit far from the rest (speaking in Swiss distances). Second choice would be Bern, since it is the capital and you are also in the middle of everything.

Hi! Depending on what you like, what is the exact purpose of your trip and what budget you've got, any of these places is nice and has got some advantages. Basel is beautiful and is located almost at the boarder of three countries - you can see more, not only Switzerland. Bern is a little bit to the west of the country. The region of wineries, the capital, but also higher prices. Lucern is very charmful small city, and I would recommend this one if you want to enjoy more of the nature, go to the mountains, rest sitting in calm place drinking coffee and probably save some money on accommodation. But whichever city you will choose, you shouldn't have any problems reaching the other region of the country. The network of public transportation is very good developed and the trains are never (!) late.

Go to Bern: the most beautiful city in Switzerland. From there, you can go to visit Murten, a very interesting village.

beside all 3 cities are quite nice. BUT Berne ist defently the most beautiful one. Neighter Basel nor Lucerne has the House of parlament. The view to the old town of Bern from the Rosengarten, the new Bärengraben, the view from the Gurten is just great as well. OK I have to say I'm from Berne, therefore Berne for myself is the most beautiful city in the world

I would recommand Bern. You can do Daytrips to almost every Place in Switzerland. I recommand a Trip to Interlaken/Thun, also Solothurn, of course Luzern, Zürich and - if you have time - Gruyeres! Very cute!

I would recommend Berne, which is not surprising since I live there. But there also objective reasons for that: From here, it takes you just an hour to get to Basel, Lucerne and Zürich. Plus the city is lovely and you can avoid the masses of tourists in Lucerne (and the higher prices for accomodation as well). A lovely river you can swim in, terrific medieval old town, mountains at your doorstep. And you're welcome to pop by for a drink at my place, if I'm around.

Look for Lauterbrunnan! Right in a wedge amongst the Alps. Fantastic camp park with all the facilities (bar, club, tourist office, etc) right next to the charming town. Train station that takes you via cable-car or cog-rail right into and up the mountains.

Bern is beautifull (a good balance between nature and city), calm, people very nice. If you are not interested in museums, it´s enoug one day (small city). Lucerne has a beautiful lake and old city, but it is smaller than Bern. Basel has either a nice old town area, but it is more to visit museums, and enjoy the city life. So, I would take Bern: the middle point to everywhere, and you cannot forget that Switzerland is a small country: the same which direction you drive, you are in around 3 or 4 hours at the border...

Luzern is a worldwide reference in Culture. Is a very touristic city, with a very good support for your stay (nice hotels, restaurants and recreations). The beautiful Luzerna's Lake with the sight of Mount Pilatus and Rigi are one of the most amazing scenaries that i've seen in my life. At the lake is a very old wood bridge with an tower that you can cross. You can also take transportation by the city with a boat in the lake, and see the transparent water. One of the most coolest thing to do in this city is going to the Swiss Transport Museum (Verkehrshaus der Schweiz). I hope to have helped you! Good luck!

I don't know any of the three, but I loved Geneva. The Leman Lake is gorgeous and there are many things to do around it.

As a city, Luzern is the most beautiful... but I think Bern's central position is the best (close to the Jungfraujoch and the Léman lake). Basel is an exceptional city as to museums but other than that, has nothing special.

Bern is quite centrally located and may serve a good hub to explore Switzerland, particularly also the Bernese Oberland.

Go to Bern, you reach Interlaken in 40 minutes by train and you get a view of the capital city, witch is realy very beautifull (same as lucerne) Basel is very much chemical industrial region and lucern is similar to bern, but you wqill no be that close to the eiger mönch and jungfrau as from bern.

Lucern is really nice. Basel, if you want to have easy access to Germany and Switzerland. But given your three choices, I would say Lucern. :)

Basel, if it's a lovely weather, you can have a walk near the Rhine River, but if it's cold and rainy (as it usually does in november) there are plenty of things to do in Basel.

I live on Lake Zurich, about 50km away from Luzern, and it is a great place to visit almost any time, with the mountains closeby and Vierwaldstättersee (Lake of Luzern) right there as well. It's a small city with lots of charm. Only thing is that in November it could be cold and foggy and not really much snow in the mountains yet. But it's romantic and quaint enough that that probably won't matter.

I would say Lucerne because it overlooks a lake, which together with the surrounding mountains is absolutely beautiful. It's also a bit more touristy, so you get the old charm and cute shows.

I'd recommand Bern... as the capital of Switzerland it offers a lot of possibilities and as a quiet central place in the country it makes it easier to get wherever you want to go...

I'd say Interlaken as it is almost equidistant from all the cities you listed. You can get GREAT rooms at the Backpackers Villa for a quite reasonable price. Their website is villa.ch. I've stayed there multiple times in my travels. Great place with a friendly staff and a fabulous location! NOt to mention a amazingly beautiful city to stay in :)
