Barcelona is not be missed!
las ciudades andaluzas: Sevilla y Cordoba, tambien Malaga
en el centro del pais: Salamanca, Toledo, Avila
do visit also smaller less known cities: Teruel, Cuenca, Ubeda, Baeza
take a walk ...(on the wild side) direction Compostela, head of for the Picos, el valle d'Aran, el interior de la Costa Brava, do not stay on the beaches , not longer than a day, and then straight into the interior!
if you like the beaches, go to costa de la luz, or in and around Almeria, or the northern greener coast, hurry to Lanzarote, La Gomera and Hierro, but do not tell the others!!
try to learn some Spanish words, because Spaniards tend to be a bit chauvinist !and they have this right
el idioma es la llave !!
allez buen viaje y vaya con dios

You live in Europe (so I did) and visiting countries in europe is very easy... you can do it anytime. I think you should visit South America. Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina (Patagonia) would be my favorite choices. Uruguay has a lot to offer, especially during the summer! We have an amazing city called 'Punta del Este' (I highly recommend you to google it and see it for yourself), but that's not it; Montevideo is a very interesting city. 'Colonia del Sacramento' is simply stunning and cousy. Then you have tons of unique beaches in Rocha (headig towards our border with Brazil). But if the coutry is your thing, we have several interesting 'ranches' for tourists and locals as well..

Depends what you like to do. Anywhere you go you will have good food, drink and nightlife. Spain is so different depending where you go...so you have to figure out what you like to do, see, and type of climate you like. However, if you are coming on a short visit I say go to Madrid. From Madrid you can take day trips to wonderful places such as Toledo, Salamanca, Segovia, and Avila to name a few. Also since it is in the middle of the country you can take a weekend trip via any mode of transportation easily and pretty cheap.

Andalucia is the most tipical of Spain, the most authentic part as far as I'm concerned. I made a trip that started out in Sevilla, and after that I went to Cordoba, Granada and Malaga. Although I would not recommend Malaga, the others are fantastic!! For the beach, it is better to go to Cadiz then to Malaga, more beautiful, not so crowded, and closer :)

Barcelona or Granada!
Barcelona: Camp Nou, Olimpic park, many interesting buildings in modernisme style (Casa Milla, Casa Batllo, Sagrada Familia) which make the city a little bit magical. and warm see and beach of course!
Granada: Alhambra!!! and many beautiful little streets in the old town. You can walk all days and feel the awesome atmosphere of this city, with many arabic accents...

I'D highly recommend Barcelona if you want to see some sights AND be able to go to the beach. It really depends on what you want to do in your spare time.

I have spent the last 10 years going to Spain for holidays and I still have lots to visit, it depends on which areas you want to get to know, how much time you have, etc. The basics are Barcelona and Madrid, but Spain is beautiful and so diverse is hard to give you just one answer.

If you like cities, than I can recommend Barcelona. There is alot of culture, shopping (for the ladies!!!) and it is close to sea. So if the sun is shining you can relax at the sunny beach!
