Others cover basically all but stay out of american food restaurant or non chinese ones are very expensive there are a lot of great chinese restaurants ,,, depending what is your budget and what is your like.

guangzhou has basically every kind of food you can imagine. if you're looking for some good Cantonese cuisine, go to Li Yuan or Yu Chi Cheng (both in zhujiang xincheng). For Western food, go to Tianhe, there are a variety of hotels there and any one will give satisfactory food. Oggi's has the BEST Italian food and it's near the sports stadium. If you feel like letting loose then go to the area around Garden Hotel, have a nice dinner at the Italian Restaurant and then go to a nearby club called Cave. It's awesome :)

Shangxiajiu is a perfect place for a light dinner. For dinner, I reccommend Xintaile near Yuexiu park. Beijing road and Tianhe district are nice places for hanging out. If you are interested in Chinese art, please go to Chen Clan temple. Yuexiu park and Baiyun hill are nice places to visit, especially Zhenhailou in Yuexiu park, it is an important place in the history of Guangzhou.

I would actually take a trip outside of Guangzhou to Yuangshuo. Its a great little town with lots of attractions for tourists such as bike rides and mud caves. There are lots of great restaurants and a great crafts market as well.

If you are tired of the chinese food and you like the german kitchen, then I recommend the "1920 Restaurant"

Just go to the FACE club. Go dancing!

The best Thai restaurant I ever ate at was the Cow & Bridge on Shamian Island. Fantastic. The entire Shamian Island was great for tourists from the USA.

There's a brazilian restaurant with open buffet. You have to wait to get in, it's always packed!and there's live music. Highly recommended! Sorry dont have the exact address :S
