Namibia is wonderful. Great roads, easy to get around but substantial distances between spots. Very safe, probably one of the safest countries in Africa. Etosha is great. Check out the canyon, the skeleton coast. enjoy. It's in my top 5 countries.

I was fortunate enough to go to Namibia 2 years ago and volunteered at an animal sanctuary just outside of Windhoek. I was lucky enough to be able to explore Windhoek itself as well as the coastal town of Swakop (also known as Swakoppmund). It's an unbeleveable place to visit!!

Absolutely amazing. It is one of my top countries, one of the less densely populated worldwide. In order to understand the "real" Namibian touch I would suggest not to use written guides (most of them outdated and misleading at times)but tour operators with guides living locally
I would suggest
- Etosha National Park
- Soussvlei and the Namib Desert: breathtaking
- Skeleton Coast
- Damaraland

Namibia is AMAZING!! My favorite country in Southern Africa. Fish River Canyon (second largest in the world) is amazing to see at sunset goes over the rim. The Namib Desert is beyond words with its red sand dunes and the rich colors of red from the sand, blue from the sky and black from the burnt tree's. The Etosha National Part has an abundance of game animals and Swakopmund is a great place to escape as it is on the coast.

As a proud South African I fell in love with Namibia, most people do. You probably will too :) it is worth it...
P.S: Dune 45 is not the biggest sand Dune in the world- 'Big Daddy' is the biggest in Namibia and I think the largest is in South America somewhere.
DONT use lonely Planet... Not to discredit them and their research, but in my personal experience they are misinformed 90% of the time or the info is out dated...

My friend and I camped in Namibia and loved it. Very safe. Damaraland is one of the less densely populated spots I've ever been to. Spend a few days there to (hopefully) see the desert elefants. Etosha is great, too. Loads of wildlife. Also don't buy Lonely Planet for Namibia. It's the worst LP edition I've ever come across and I usually love LP.

Been to Namibia, just amazing. Different landscapes at every turn, check out the Dune 45, which is the biggest in the world. The Namib desert is just gorgeous, as well as Etosha. Botswana is amazing too, with more animals (kalahari)
