If you want to experience more than sitting in a tent and drink beer, it´s worth going to Stuttgart to visit the Cannstatter Wasen around the same time as the Oktoberfest. - Cannstatter Wasen has a larger variety for rollercoasters and other amusement park rides :)

It's nice, but there are better places to do this in Germany :)

If your in Munich anyway don't just limit yourself to the Oktoberfest. Also, if you want to fit in, don't buy what you think might be right, but get yourself some advice from people who are actually from Bavaria. We see so many tourist every year who are convinced they fit in and they just don't, you don't want to be one of them, believe me.

It's many people who want that. xP

Make sure you wear some lederhosen (for guys) or a dirndl (for gals) to fit in at Oktoberfest. 90% of the people there do. It's a lot of fun if you decide to go "all out" and fit in with the locals.

we have Volksfest in Ulm from 10 to 20 July,it's 580 year-anniversary.also great fun.
