The Bastion 23 or Q'asr Rouy'as (The Raïs Palace) is a famous monument located near the Ancient Medina of Algiers (The Casbah). The palace is a wonderful example of the ottoman architecture in Algeria. In particular, the marvelous paintings and colours of walls and roofs and their contrast with the eternal blue sky and sea is simply hypnotic. The actual museum is also a good place to visit for learning about Algiers history.
