About Kasbah
The Kasbah, meaning "fortified place", is an Ottoman defensive city/structure. Located in the old city of Algiers, this Kasbah is unique in that it is one of the few built in North Africa on a hillside. It is situated in the upper parts of Algiers overlooking the rest of the city as well as the Mediterranean coast, and was designated a UNESCO world heritage site. The Kasbah, built over 250-450 years ago, contains remains of an old citadel, mosques, Ottoman style palaces, as well as a labyrinth network of houses, narrow steps, passageways and alleys seemingly built one on top of another.
The old city is in a state of disrepair and is in urgent need of restoration. Payment Accepted:
