Oct 29, 2008 This city within a city - this city of the dead - Recoleta Cemetery encompasses about 4 city blocks and is open for all to see. Buy a map for a few pesos and plot a course to see some of the more interesting mausoleums or just wander around on your own. There is a colony of feral cats that keep watch over this city and will help to guide you in the event that you get lost. This is definitely a must see when visiting Buenos Aires - and the perfect place to walk off that steak and bottle of Malbec that you just had for lunch. Dec 25, 2009 i'm in argentina, and my friend tells me i must visit this cemetery - for as much as i love pere la chaise, and all the history there, and as much as i am blown away, when in poland entire sites glow ablaze from the candles lit on the tombs for the day of the dead - i wasn't too thrilled about the idea. i ended up going, and lost myself there completely for about four hours, all by myself, completely consumed by the beauty, the meditative feel, and the mysticism. it is an absolute must see!!! Jan 7, 2009 Beautiful maze in which it's impossible not to get lost. You could just keep walking for hours and hours without seeing twice the same grave. Recoleta Cemetery is not a only an amazing place, but it hides Evita Peron's grave. Have fun looking for it ;) Dec 28, 2008 It is pretty neat to find this refuge of serenity surrounded by all of Buenos Aires. Take a tour or just follow the crowds to Evita Perón's grave. Some of the mausoleums are impeccably upkept!
