Look up from Ushuaia into the mountains and you will see where Martial Glacier resides. An important source of fresh water for the town, it is a ski hill in winter and hiking destination in summer.

If you want stunning views of Ushuaia and the ocean beyond, then head up to Martial Glacier, only a short taxi / shuttle ride away. There is a chairlift to take you up part way, then a fairly steep hike on loose grounds in places. It is a challenge that requires proper footwear but no technical climbing. It is much more challenging if you go outside of the summer season.
