Aug 16, 2009 I enjoyed my time visiting the war memorial in Canberra. Such a peaceful place. Gave you time and space for gentle reflection. Well, worth a visit. The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial's purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war. Its mission is to assist Australians to remember, interpret and understand the Australian experience of war and its enduring impact on Australian society. Feb 5, 2010 I liked the look of it. Especially when you are looking from the parliament it has a really good look to the entrance with the backdrop of the mountain. It is also free (by donation though) And it has a lot of history preserved in it. I'm usually not a museums' person but i really enjoyed it. Jan 12, 2012 Fantastic for Australian History lovers. The big hall out the back is great for planes, subs etc One good interactive area for the young ones, but a lot of reading and boring stuff if you are under 12.
