Jun 6, 2011 Nimbin is a quaint and picturesque villiage, and was once full of loving hippies. They, however, seem to have headed for the hills and tend to stay out of town. Nimbin nowdays feels used and a little worn. Growing up around the area I've seen it come from a place where you'd happily take your kids to a place where you don't feel entirely comfortable at night. There's still a great alternative scene there, the sunday markets are good, and the Mardi Grass is getting bigger and better every year. It would seem that the more press and interest this town garners the more drugs and druggies it attracts. Where's the spirit of the Aquarius festival? I'm not too sure, but it's a damn sight freer thinking than some of its neighbouring towns. Take a look for yourself. Oct 18, 2008 You really only want to be here for a few hours and you get high from just walking down the street. Heaps of parking behind the main street and you cant go more than 50m from your car without getting offered hash. Its about 40mins from Byron on a really windy road. You can get some very interesting hash themed souveniours and it’s the only place I know that sells marajana incense. Make sure you spot the Big Joint in Australia’s series of big things (ie big banana, big pinapple etc). As you drive in from Byron, it’s the white rolled thing hanging of the pub sign on the left hand side. Related Links
