Lovely place! We used to get down there and shill, and we found out that there was almost always some kind of event there. On Valentine's day they had a fireworks show, and on the day before Australian day they had a pre- event there also with fireworks. (Australian's looove fireworks!) And if your interested in seeing some wildlife the Sydney wildlife center and Sydney Aquarium is located there. We bought a Sydney pass which got us into both, plus the Sydney Sky Tower and Manley Aquarium. That I recommend cause it's much cheaper then buy tickets one ticket at the time.

Can be pricey and busy, especially on weekends / summer holidays. A fantastic park for the kids (plus a water park - great on a hot day!), good shopping and amazing gelato from a little shop right under the Imax building.
If you've walked down from George St and want to get back to the trains, the best way is to catch a ferry around to Circular Quay from outside Wildlife World. You'll stop at Luna Park and get great views of the Harbour Bridge (especially from the stop before Luna Park when you're directly in front of the bridge!) and the Opera House

I lived in Sydney for a couple of years and the harbour is the best of Sydney on display. The Chinese Gardens are gorgeous and you can get photographed in traditional chinese costume... at least my son did. Plenty of festivals, entertainment and cafes in this area. The aquarium is ok... better aquariums in Perth though. Sydneysiders, aka cockroaches, are generally friendly and helpful. The powerhouse museum was my son's favourite place.

Probably the number one place for tourists. Great adaptation of a former harbour. Lots of restaurants, shopping center, imax cinema and many other tourists atractions. JET Boat marina, lunch cruises and many more.
At night it is the best place in Sydney to party. Cargo Bar, Loft and Bungalow 8 are GR8. ID necessary at all times even if you're 30 years old.
