Building
Opera House
The Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most distinctive examples of modern architecture in the world and one of Australia's best known icons.  It was designed by a Danish architect firm (Jørn Utzon and Ove Arup & Partners) and was constructed over a 14 year timespan from 1959 to 1973.  The Opera House is the home of the Sydney Symphony, the Sydney Theatre Company and Opera Australia.  In 2007, the Opera House was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stunning.... now, three ys after I visisted it, still've got tears in my eyes.... I ve always wanted to see it live, and when I finally did it, it was even more magnificent and touchy than I ve ever imagined. I just think it is worth to see. Btw, This year on the 20th Oct it will be 35 ys from the big opening. I still remember the date:))) A must see! And the beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens is nice way to enjoy afterwards, and to browse your impressions in the stillness of the nature. (Cockatoos are so cute and bats scarry:)))

I recommend doing the inside tour of the Opera House. The first time I was in Australia, I just went to take photos of the outside, etc. Last year, though, when travelling with my then 7 year old son, we did the tour. It was really fascinating to hear the story of the architect who designed it and find out that he actually submitted his drawing to a contest and won and that is how the Opera House came to be. There is such love and so many trials that went in to building this magnificent landmark!

walk along the Opera Quays around the Sydney Cove from Circual Quay to the Opera House and enjoy the stunning view! Take your lunch with you and eat it upon the stairs of the Opera House. And don't forget to take a walk in the Royal Botanic Gardens! It's a beautiful place to relax a bit :)

special way to take beautiful photos: boat trip by night from Circular Quay towards Daling Harbour!

Didn't get to do an inside tour, but it was nice to see the Opera House nonetheless. It's an architectural marvel. Picture-taking during the day and/or night is a must. It's majestic. There are also shopping and eating opportunities in the Opera House area; during my time there, a live band played by the outside restaurant and it was nice.

Magnificent piece of architecture inside and out. It was a breathtaking experience. The Darling Harbor is also beautiful and Sydney itself is just gorgeous. At 5:00 PM people and stores were already close and asleep around the Sydney harbor. The Botanical garden is just lovely.
