This protected area comprises of 1200 square kilometers of rainforest, making it the largest contiguous rainforest area in all of Australia.  It is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including 30% of Australia's marsupial, reptile and frog species, 20% of bird species, and 65% of its butterfly and bat species.  This tremendous biodiversity has earned the park its spot among UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.

There are several campgrounds located within the rainforest, as well as a variety of hotels, ecolodges and spa retreats.  The park is open 24h year-round.

This is a beautiful place. I spent a couple of days at a yoga retreat here called Prema Shanti Yoga and Meditation Retreat. It was so peaceful and rejuvenating there. I went snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef and found a magical blue pool in the middle of the rainforest.

Flora and fuana generally unseen across the rest of Australia. There is some nice scenery and if you are lucky you may encounter a Casssowary.
