Magnetic Island is a beautiful island off the coast of Queensland, Australia.  It is full of lovely deserted hamlets where you can relax on the beach in the warm sunshine and swim in pristine waters.  If you are on a budget you can make a day trip of it and use the local buses to move around, and walk in between lots of places.  Very nice!

Take a cruise to Magnetic Island and take a scooter ride around the island to see koalas napping in the trees. See the sites where guns guarded the shoreline during WWII. I dreamed of living here for a while after my visit. It was so slow and dreamy.

Good place to get your divinglicence cheap and quick. Don't expect to see anything though. Stay at Bungalow Bay Koala Village. Great place (good location) where you can have dinner with the possums!! Nice cabins and restaurant too.

Maggie Island is a beautiful little spot lying just off the coast at Townsville in Queensland. It's known as one of the best places to spot wild koalas, and I can vouch for this - I spotted a couple myself wandering in the hills there.

When visiting townsville, go to magnetic island. This is a small island with everything. Go without car. if you need it you may rent a small cart. 4 small beaches, a small koala wildlife park.... really a "heaven on earth" place....
