Oct 30, 2008 Rottnest would rank as one of my favourite places in the world and I try to get there every time I'm in Perth for the summer. There are almost no cars on Rottnest (only the Rangers, Police, Ambulance etc) so most people hire bikes and ride around the island. The lack of traffic noise makes it incredibly peaceful. The island is also surrounded by reef (and a number of shipwrecks as a result) so you can take (or hire once you get there) a snorkel and swim around exploring the coral and fish, and it's not uncommon to see stingrays. If you're anywhere near Perth make sure you spend a day at Rottnest! Oct 11, 2008 Rottnest Island is 30mins ferry from Freemantle, bit longer from Perth and an awesome place to spend a day. If you are energetic you can hire a bike and ride around the island. Or there is the bus option where you can hop or and off for $10 AUD. Theres a few food options on the island from fast food to restraunts and pubs, gorgeous beaches and quokkas. You can join free walking tour to spot quokkas at 1pm. Just don't feed them- its bad for them and can land you a $50 fine! Perfect place for a day out and you can land back in Freo and head for a beer at Little Creatures. May 28, 2011 Rottnest is a little island off Fremantle, Perth. it is a 20 minute ride on the ferry, and you cn travel around the island on bicycles which are easy to hire upon arrival to the island (but you may want to pre book if it is a busy weekend just in case). The island is also one of the top diving destinations in the world. with plenty to do it is a great day for families or you can book a couple of nights with plenty of accommodation options (as long as it is not over the Australian christmas holidays as different rules apply) Mar 19, 2009 This is one of the best holiday destinations in W.A. Bring your surfboard, camera, snorkelling gear and plenty of sunscreen. It's hard to believe you're only 30 mins away from Perth city on the Fast Ferrry, as it feels more like the Greek Isles with it torquoise waters, coral reefs, beautiful bays and white sandy beaches. Go for the day, but better to stay for a week. If you're coming to Perth, then Rotto is a must! Jan 17, 2009 Rottness island is absolutely amazing! I haven't seen anything like it in my travels so far. If you going id suggest take the faerie and bike it round the island. Its not hard and deffiently the best way to do it. This place has some amazing underwater scenery, got me interested enought to learn to dive so snorkelling at least is a must Related Links
