Sep 24, 2008 According to legend, it was the devil himself who created Schlossberg. He had promised the people of Graz to make their local mountain, the Schöckl, higher. Of course, in exchange for the first soul climbing up heightened Schöckl. When flying over Graz with a huge rock from Africa in his hands, he caught sight of a procession. It was on Easter Sunday. On which he had no power on humans. And therefore he could not win any soul. In (un-)righteous anger Satan threw the rock onto the town. The rock broke in two parts. Today the smaller one is Austein with its Calvary. The bigger one is Schlossberg. May 11, 2009 In the very center of the city there's a hill, with the castle ruins and other historical cites on the top, the hill teams with tunnels and caves where you stroll around exploring the underground levels or find the night party (in the cave!). It's so east to get up there you can: drive, walk up the serpentine stairs, take funicular or elevator.
