The grounds of the Belvedere are absolutely gorgeous--easily as pretty and photogenic as the Schronbrunn and better than Hofsburg in my opinion. The artwork displayed in the exhibit halls within the Upper Belvedere is very good, with a terrific collection Gustav Klimt's paintings - I went just to see The Kiss and wasn't disappointed. Because the gallery is in a former palace, the setting creates atmosphere like no other art museum I've ever visited, with some rooms being the art itself on display, such as the Marble Hall and Chapel. Well worth the admission price(9.5 euros) and quite pretty outside on the grounds with the fountains and flowers. Go when it's warm and spend some time walking among the gardens too. The only disadvantage is that the Belvedere is a bit out of the way from the city center and both U-bahn stations are a walk away. Bring a good map, as the streets wind off in odd directions.

this is a former castle with incredibly beautiful gardens and plenty of art treasures. i´m a huge Klimt fan so part of the reason why i love this place is that Klimt´s famous painting "The Kiss" is there. believe me, no reproduction does justice to the original. i starred at it for like 15 minutes and the guard in charge of that room just smiled at me and understood... if you are in Vienna, you should definitely go!

A beautiful palace which houses one of my all time favourite art galleries featuring to my two favourite artists, Gustav Klimt Egon Schiele. The gardens are beautiful as well and if you're there around Christmas or Easter, there tend to be stands at the entrance that sell some traditions decorations and food.

It is an incredible feat of architecture. A perfect place to go for a walk or just wander around aimlessly. However, just check the weather before you go. When it rains, even a building like the Belvedere can look ugly.
