For more than seven centuries, the great empire of the Habsburgs was ruled from the Imperial Palace . Today, the Gothic Imperial Chapel, where the Vienna Boys’ Choir performs during High Mass on Sunday, is a remnant of the Imperial Palace during the Middle Ages. I don't think anything depressed me quite so much as going through the rooms where the personal treasures of the Hapsburgs are kept.  You see gallery after gallery of the most exquisitive bric-a-brac ever assembled for a dynasty -- unless the British royals are hiding something from us.  Votive ware, samovars, personal souvenirs -- all this created from the taxes of hard-working peasants -- people who lived in dirt-floor shacks -- throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire.  The price was modest when I went there and it didn't take me more than an hour to get through it.  I did it between trains (6 hours).

The Hofburg is incredible in size and the grandeur of it makes you feel like a princess. No wonder that the Sissi-Museum is located near by the Hofburg. It really is the center of Vienna. a big advantage is that it is not at all stiff like other palaces, in fact it really has a relaxed atmosphere : children playing, musicians playing and so on... If I remember well you will find a terrific square between the Hofburg and the Rathaus where you can find all kinds of food from all over the world for cheap prices

We went at Austria while it was still winter and all though it was raining all day i thought that the Hoftbourg palace was magnificent still!we didn't have much time so we did a quick stroll triugh the palace and its gardens!it was majestic fascinating and all in the center of Vienna!iwould like to come back to austria in summer!

E' il palazzo imperiale che fu dal 1283 al 1918 la residenza degli Asburgo ed è costituito da una vasto complesso(circa 2500 ambienti) di costruzioni di epoche diverse.Il complesso manca di un'unità architettonica a causa dell'interruzione del suo ampliamento per lo scoppio della prima guerra mondiale.
