About Stephan's Dom / St. Stephen's Cathedral
The Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral) in Vienna has survived through many wars and has become a symbol of Vienna's freedom. The Gothic cathedral was first built in 1147 AD and its most recognizable characteristic, the diamond-patterned tile roof, was added in 1952.

Aug 13, 2008 Vienna is one of the coolest places for those who are interested in culture and history but also having a good time, making party or just have a large shopping trip at the "Mariahilferstraße" . You can vist a lot of museums like the Museum of Technology or the Museum of Contraception and Abortion ! You can also have fun at the "Prata" ,and watch the city from up above while takinga ride on the big observation wheel . But nothing is better than visiting the "Stephan's Dom" at night when it's lightet. It is very impressive to see that big cathedral in the middle of the pedestrian area. That is when you get the "Vienna feeling" ;-) Aug 1, 2009 The architecture of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is just amazing. It's a must see if you're in Vienna, it's located in the center of the city. And if you're religious or otherwise interested in long sermons you should take part in it, but remember, they last long. The church has some really interesting "sculptures" to check out, and also roof and towers are extraordinary . Inside the alters, chapels and pulpit is worth checking out. Oct 14, 2008 One of the most beautiful churches in Austria, the grand St. Stephen's Cathedral is a place to visit. Steer away from the tourist-trap coaches though. In summer time the area around the church is filled with Mozart-dressed people selling tickets to operas and concerts and also the smell of the horses of the coaches could be unbearable around them. Aug 28, 2009 This Cathedral is a very interesting building, not alike the same from gothic period. Although it is similar to the majority, it has a yellow-green roof that reminds the skin of a lizzard. Placed in an old town square, it stands place, however, near to some modern glass and steel buildings! Jul 28, 2010 We took a tour of the catacombs and chose to go up to the roof as well - both are worth it, and were better than I thought they would be. Not only is the church stunningly beautiful but it has plenty of interesting history. The view from the roof is fantastic!
