Built in 1958, really nice construction. Haven't been inside because of long queue's.

Every Belgian has been up here at least once in there life. Originally built for the world fair of 1958 and ment to be destroyed afterwards this strangely enlarged model of an iron atom is still standing. Strangely beautiful on the outside and a bit boring on the inside, the elavator ride is not to be missed. There are some good exhibitions from time to time. Be carefull publishing pictures with atomium in it because the children of the architect are still milking their inherintance making everyone who prints or publishes the building pay.

A fantastic structure, built in 1958 - incredibly aesthetic on the outside, the interior is somewhat disappointing, it really only contains a few exhibits chronicaling the construction of the Atomium. It also contains a modern café with excellent Gauffres. It also claims to have the 4th fastest lift in the world. Altogether it is worth a visit during during the less popular tourist hours, even if the interior is less impressive than the exterior, the restaurant on the top floor, which has to be pre-booked offers a panoramic view of Brussels.

Hi guys,

This is the atomium in Belgium. From the grand place in Brussels, you can just get a ride via train or the double decker tourist buys. You can get inside the atomium and there are restaurants located where you can eat and enjoy the view. Just close next to atomium is a teen park where you can also find the mini turope. This is a great place to visit!!!!

It’s cool to see and walk around inside. It was created for the worlds fair. It wasn’t built to be permanent but everyone liked it. The restaurant in it wasn’t very vegetarian friendly but the food I had was good. There is an area with what would have been modern furniture in the 1950’s and there are pictures of the opening.
