Giant five-towered Tournai Cathedral was built starting in the 12th century and measures 134 metres long and 66 metres wide.   Each of its five towers is different, and in fact many portions of the building have at least slightly different styles.  This is due to the lengthy period of time (six centuries) that building occurred in. Tournai Cathedral is a leading influence on the design of many other churches in the region.

The various artwork (sculptures, carvings, statues, paintings, stained glass) in the cathedral are all excellent.  There is also treasury with such riches as intricately decorated 13th century reliquiary chests, and a large 14th–15th  century tapestry that illustrates the life of the apostle of Tournai.

Architecturally unique, but currently under renovation. The Belfry next the Cathedral, and already rebuilt, is a must see.

For old stones lovers.
