As an Erasmus student, I spent a lot of in the center of the city. Ghent is clean, calm, young. Shopping in Ghent is a real pleasure. In winter, it can be quite cold. Not as cold as in Brussels. People talk dutch, English, french sometimes.. Really open people. If you want you can rent a bike for an hour, a day or you can even take a bike-abonnement.. There is a special street where you can ride your bicycle. Nice city, really.

Quand je suis arrivé sur cette place, il faisait tout juste nuit (une nuit belle, claire), et je ne m'attendais pas à débarquer dessus car j'allais de rues en rues sans réfléchir. La, le choc. Magnifique !!!

there's no grand place in ghent that's in Brussels it's very beautiful especially around X-mass, but it's not in Ghent
