Great place to start exploring Gent! You get three sights for the price of one: the Weaver's hall with the Belfry on the picture (go up there once you have explored the town: you'll finally get an idea where you have been!), the theatre house to the right, a good example of representative bourgeois architecture of the 19th/early20th century and last, but not least, the St.Baafs-Cathedral (behind yourself, not visible here) which not only is a wonderful building with a wagonload of architectural and church history, but it also houses "The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb" by Jan Van Eyck, one of the major painters of the Low Countries in the 15th century.
All in all: a win-win-win situation!

For me personally, St. Baafs (or Bavo) was one of the most beautiful places in Ghent. I spent about 2 hours inside looking at all the art, and relics. If you're into cathedrals and that sort of thing, this is the place for you. Folk are praying, reading, drawing, singing, lighting candles, taking pictures... and still there is a very sacred, peaceful atmosphere there.

Photos are allowed inside, but it is a place of worship with priceless artifacts, so please use your common sense.

All of Gent is great and in summer there is a 10 day festival called "Gentse Feesten" starting on the Saturday before the 21st of July. All of Gent is partying for 10 day's long!!! Must see is "Pole Pole" at the Graslei and The Korenmarkt. Of course Sint Baafs Plein and much more!!!  All in 1 good food, drinks and 24/7 party !!!

Just like many othere places in Ghent cramped with history and a great atmosphere. Three churches in a row and the shopping street and some great bars nearby, can't get any better.

It's a magic place....when I went there,I always felt some wonderful feelings....There's something magic...
