The Split
About The Split
The Split is where Caye Caulker was actually 'split' in two by a hurricane.

Dec 27, 2008 My favorite parts of The Split: 1) Dilapidated, unfinished, hurricane-stricken hotel that everyone on the island tried to sell to me 2) A laid-back little beach area right by our cabana 3) Rentals to kayak The Split/around the island It would have gotten four stars if there had been a slightly smaller people/beach area ratio. Jan 3, 2009 There is a public swimming spot just before the Split. There is a bit of an undertow, so be careful if swimming over the sunken concrete wall. It is quite sharp and can be painful if the small current unexpectedly smashes you into it! They say there is a big current going through the Split itself, so swimming there is not recommended. Oct 31, 2008 Not much to see honestly, aside from the story of how it got created, it just looks like any part of an island. A hurricane swept through and cut a path through here - there is decent swimming and it is a good spot to watch the sun set or grab a drink at least.

Hello Kasia, I tried to send you a message however the symbols to permit us to send won't appear... so I am trying to reach you here.
I also enjoy Caye Caulker, and especially the Paridiso. Did you also get to meet June the proprietor and her new husband, a frenchman?
I live in Belize on the mainland so going to the island occassionally is so different and enjoyable.
I hope this note finds it's way to you, so perhaps we may chat a bit more.
