Pilgrimage Site
Originating from the 7th Century, Kyichu Lhakhang is on of the oldest monasteries within which is one of the most sacred shrines in Bhutan.  It is an important pilgrimage site.

Kyichu Lhakhang comprises a twin set of temples.  The first temple was built by Songtsen Gampo (a Buddhist Tibetan King) in the 7th century.  Legend has it that the temple was built on the joint of a demon in order to subdue her.

The second temple was built much later in 1968 by the Queen mother of Bhutan.
