Jul 17, 2009 Christ the Redeemer is spectacular, especially flying into Rio in the early morning. There is nothing like it. Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The beaches are pristine, the view from Sugar Loaf Mountain is breath taking and the people, well the people are most interesting and exotic. Rio is also one of the gemstone capitals of the world specializing in aquamarines, rubies and emeralds. Do not miss a walk down Ipanema or Copacabana Beach; the most famous beaches in the world... Jan 11, 2009 The trip up the mountain to the Christ the Redeemer statue is festive as local bands play as the tram moves up the hill. Once up there the view is breathtaking. You feel like you can see all of Rio. The statue is phenomenal and dwarfs a human being standing next to it. The statue is 100 feet tall and stands on a platform with a surrounding deck to take in the ariel view of the city and the coastline. Jan 4, 2010 This iconic statue offers the best views of Rio de Janeiro. Be mindful though on when you go, as it can get covered in thick fog. The best times are usually in the mornings, as the fog tends to roll in the afternoons. If you can afford it, take a helicopter flight over Rio de Janeiro from the Santa Marta helipad (before you get to the entrance to Christ The Redeemer). It's absolutely breathtaking! Jan 28, 2011 amazing, shame about the scaffolding, i hope it's been removed!
