I love this beach. We rented an appartment 2 feet away from this beach. I could smell the ocean from my bedroom. It's a lot less crowded than Copacabana, so it's a lot more relaxed to hang out at. The sun is just as bright, the sand is just as white and the sea is just as blue, so why people don't go here more often is beyond me. I love the whole atmosphere of the beach, the little stalls where you can rent beach chairs for 3 reais a day, buy coconut water (in actual coconuts that they hack open on the spot), and the merchants who sell grilled gambas. I was there for a month and loved every minute of it. I really want to go back to Rio, and especially Ipanema beach.

the best beach to meet people in Rio and enjoy the city lifestyle. one of the most amazing sunsets from arpoador rock. democratic place for poor and rich, conservatives and alternatives, dwellers and tourists. "mate de galão" to drink and "biscoito globo" (cracker made of tapioca flour) to snack. after the beach - go to a juice house or to a boteco - bar which serves cheap beer and snacks. if you are going on sunday, stroll by the hippie fair. during the summer the beach is very very crowd, which may stress. this is the carioca's lifestyle. love it!

Brazil is known worldwide for having some of the hottest girls in the planet....everybody knows that...well, is you ever questioned yourself where exactly they are....just go to Ipanema beach....and become a believer....

A white sand beach. Beautiful people. Great water. Just watch your wallet as any big city. Hotels are fantastics. Restaurants are famous. Rent a umbrella and a chair and RELAX

Be careful with 12 old kids stealing your stuff, and people trying to sell thing on the streets. The Beach is wonderful, a lot of bars, parties and a Big GLS scene going on.
