The Baths National Park

Spanish Town, British Virgin Islands

Description:
The baths, located on the southern end of Virgin Gorda, is an interesting geological formation approximately 70 million years ago.  Molten rock formed into huge sections of granite rocks piled together.  Over time erosion rounded the giant boulders, and carved out natural caves, tunnels, grottos, and pool.  The area is ideal for exploring, sunbathing, and snorkeling.  Though there is not much coral, there is plenty of sealife, including colourful fish, turtles, and rays.

Note that during the winter months, the a National Parks flag system is in effect to warn visitors.  Giant waves can swell suddenly, making the region potentially dangerous.

Getting there:
The Baths National Park is located on the northwest coast on the island of Virgin Gorda.  There are two ways to reach the Baths:

By boat:

A ten minute tax ride, after which it is a 15 minute hike.
