Description:
The Baths are a very picturesque set of giant boulders located along a beautiful beach by the southwest corner of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. They are very popular with tourists and are the most visited tourist attraction in the British Virgin Islands. Peak visiting time is between 11am and 2pm, and if you are able, it makes sense to avoid the floods of cruise ship and yacht tourists that come at this time. If you visit at sunrise or sunset, you can have a much more private experience.
The Baths are a great place to snorkel, swim and wander around and is easily accessible by taxi followed by a short 5-10 minute hike down to the beach. The boulders there form grottoes that fill with seawater.
Also nearby are Spring Bay, which is similar to the Baths and also offers good snorkeling opportunities, and Devil’s Bay – which is a 20 acre national park accessible via a 15-20 minute hike south from the Baths. There are huge boulders to squeeze by and duck through along the hike ands some beautiful tidal pools. At Devil’s Bay, there are more excellent snorkeling opportunities among the boulders and waters.
