Mar 23, 2009 If the breathtaking view of the city itself isn't it enough, the older part of the city houses the remnant ruins of a medieval fortress. Viewing it from a far or up close and personal, you can visualize the ox carts and horses that would have traversed the Balken Mountains to trade at this grandiose structure. On certain times, whether a tourist group purchases it or not, the fortress lights up in the evening to provide a light show depicting the fall of the fortress some hundreds of years ago. The light show is pretty impressive by scale, and may seem like a seen from Disneyland, if it wasn't for the fact that it was the actual fortress and not some stucco built facade. And not a distance walk from the fortress are some decent dining facilities, and fairly priced hostels that make the fortress a center of attraction. Sep 8, 2008 I remember this being particularly lovely, with a stone bridge over a ravine and gorgeous views. Of course while here I was concerned that I might have contracted rabies after being bitten by dogs in Bucharest, but that doesn't mean the castle isn't beautiful.
