The gym is fairly basic and can be busy after work and the swimming pool is hugely popular on weekends but can be a little grotty looking, although it is cleaned every day.  There are also deck chairs around the pool so that you can lie in the sun and bake to your hearts content while ordering food from the cafe.  What sold the rec center to me was the library.  English books are hard to come by in West Africa and this is one of the few places I managed to locate that would allow me to borrow books.  I think you're technically supposed to be a member but they don't check, actually they don't even check the books out to you they're just on bookshelves and you can help yourself.
