'Angkor' means 'nagar' or town and 'Wat' means temple. Nearly 1000 years old but truly timeless - Angkor Wat is a Khmer temple built by king Suryavarman to tell the stories of the Ramayana the Mahabharat. Its walls are lined with bas-relief sculptures that depict moments like Bheeshma lying on a bed of nails or Karan fixing his chariot wheel in amazing detail. There are 3 levels and it takes half a day to see all of it. On the first level is a huge statue of Vishnu. And the longest wall has the 'Churning of the Ocean' story. The top level has statues of Buddha. At every step, awe is what you feel in this once-in-a-lifetime experience...
