The Royal Palace at Angkor Thom no longer exists since the buildings were all made of perishable materials.  All that remains are two sandstone pools by the north wall, and it is impossible even to tell where the buildings used to stand.  Construction of what used to be the Royal Palace was initiated by Rajendravarman II and continued by his successors.  Phimeanakas is located nearby the Royal Palace location.

This is were they filmed the scene from Tomb Raider where Angelina is searching for the entrance to the temple and children guide her in. It's amazing how the roots have taken over this ancient temple.

The Indianna Jones of Temples. Wow, the feeling of an isolated temple and the feeling that it is lost amongst the trees is all inspiring. Truly a beautiful place to visit. Also see Ankor Wat and the Bayon

Angkor Wat is not to be missed. The town of Siemreab is very inexpensive and the people are wonderful. Allow enough time to enjoy it all.
