Phnom Chisor
About Phnom Chisor
Phnom Chisor is an 11th century Angkorian temple that was built under Suryavarman I, and is set on a solitary hill between Takeo and Phnom Penh. It is accessible by a 20 minute long climb up the 100 meter tall hill, which can be uncomfortable on a hot day.
The main temple has interesting sandstone and wooden carvings, including scenes of Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. There are also several laterite sanctuaries and sacred ponds nearby (arranged on a direct line with Angkor) that are visible from the hilltop. Taking the northern path up and the southern path down is reportedly the best way to take in the excellent views of the temples and countryside. Payment Accepted:
