Named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria, Lake Louise is one of the most famous and photographed lakes in Canada.  This glacial lake features a striking emerald colour, which comes from the rock flour carried down by melt waters from the glaciers that feed into the lake.  Adjacent to Lake Louise is Chateau Lake Louise, a Canadian Pacific Hotel that makes for a nice lunch stop to admire the lake views.

Kinda boring, and not really like those pictures you may see of it. I didn't really enjoy the actual lake that much, but instead the traveling experience that lead up to it. If you are planning on going and you studied the roads beforehand, taking the rocky roads and going to the small forest picnic areas along the way - to eat or whatever - is really better than going to the lake. It's pretty hard to find a parking spot in the Lake Louise parking area too; we actually had to park down the hill, a bit further from the lot. That was a bit of a walk.

Apparently there's also a horse stable area by the lake, saw it when we were going back to the car. Don't know if you can go there and ride horses or whatever, but feel free to check that out as well while you're there.

Outstanding views! I recomend visiting the tea house on the top of the mountain to the right. The hike is a bit long, but well worth it, amazing views all the way up and the tea house is a fun final destination to stop for lunch before making your way back down.

I don't care how many pictures you have seen, NOTHING will prepare you for the stunning beauty of this lake with its high mountian surround. The hotel is outrageously expensive, but have some tea there (pricey) and enjoy the awesome scenery.

It is amazingly beautiful .... but Lake Moraine on the other side of Temple Mountain is considered and been voted as the World's Most Beautiful Lake many times over (you might recognize it actually).

From the Chateu Lake Louise you have one of the greatest views we have seen anywhere in the world. Possibly only eclipsed by the views from the top of the Lake Louise Ski Mountain.
