Located within the Banff National Park, Moraine Lake is one of several glacier fed lakes. It is situated about 14km outside of Lake Louise Village. The lake is a striking emerald colour, which is derived from rock flour deposits from the melt-water from the nearby glaciers. Moraine Lake is situated within the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of 1884 metres (6,183 feet). Once upon a time, Moraine Lake was featured on the backside of the Canadian $20 bill.

Just visited Moraine Lake last week, the road is only open from late May/early June. The lake was still frozen and very low, so August is the time to come see the lake in its full colorful splendor.

It's absolutely fantastic, you can't miss it, it would be like to go to Rome and don't see the Colosseum.... I advise you to go to the mountains around the lake by a trail......you'll thanks me!!

If you go and see lake louisse you have to go see this lake as well. same beautiful colour as lake louise and has a nice walk around it, well worth the look.
