Jan 30, 2009 I have lived in Calgary 20 years and haven't missed ONE Stampede! From the moment the parade starts, until the final fireworks are done - nothing says "Out West" like the Calgary Stampede! Great performers come to town and everyone is in a rockin' party mood for the entire 10 days. Not everyone in Calgary is a cowboy/girl, but almost everyone pretends to be one - you just can't help but catch the cowboy fever! Oct 8, 2008 If you have the luck of being in Calgary during the Stampede, visit it! Esepecially for a European guy like me, its a rememberable experience. Great insights into North American culture, both native and western! Even if you can't handle the cow taunting or the horse riding, there's dozens of other stuff to see and do, cultural and adventurous. Jun 6, 2011 Great time for rodeo, parties every night, western wear and great concerts. Best to book hotels in advance as they tend to fill up around this time. There are many delicious places to eat on nearby 17th Avenue - unless fair food is your thing, in which case there's plenty of that on the Stampede grounds. Apr 10, 2011 Being from calgary, It is not a big deal to me anymore. It is great for all ages though. Bring lots of money as the fairway is expensive. They have the best Alberta AA Beef on a bun. Be pepared to spend a good chunk of money if you decide to do everything. Buy rodeo tickets in advance. Aug 31, 2012 Huge party, massive carnival atmosphere & tons of junk food to fill your belly! The city pretty much shuts down for 10 days so that everyone can head out. You can eat breakfast every day for free as long as you don't ming pancakes. Related Links
