The largest national park within the Canadian Rockies, Jasper National park spans 10,878 square kilometres.  It is situated just above Banff National Park, and features beautiful landscapes and terrains, including glaciers such as the Columbia Icefield, hot springs, lakes, waterfalls, and mountains such as Mount Edith Cavell and Pyramid Mountain.  Numerous wildlife live in the area, including grizzly bears, black bears, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and more.

Japser National Park was named after Jasper Hawes, the operator of a trading post in the North West Company.  It was established as a park in 1907, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Popular activities include, not surprisingly, hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, wildlife viewing, and more.  Likewise in the winter are a wealth of activities, including skiing and snow shoeing.

Jasper National Park is so beautiful. In the beginning of this year I visited this place and explore it beautifully, especially Athabasca River . This I found so interesting. There I also enjoyed whitewater rafting and other such activities. There are so many great things to do in the canadian rockies but I definately wouldn't miss this one. The Columbia Ice Fields are amazing. You can hike up to the edge and take pictures by yourself (but can't walk on them) or you can do a tour. So many great hikes and camping. I recommend Saskatchewan Crossing. It has great sites on the river which is beautiful at sunset and sunrise (don't forget your bug repellant!)

An expansive and utterly beautiful part of the Canadian Rocky's, the scenary is the number one attraction at this national park with chances to climpse Big Horn Sheep, Black Bears and Coyote's to name a few. We only had enough time to do a few hikes and enjoy one of the many Horse riding trails ( avid horse rider's may find these a little boring and generic ) but all in all well worth the trip.
