Description:
The 1000-acre Stanley Park is the second-largest urban forest in North America and is considered to be one of the highlights of Vancouver.   The park is full of massive cedar and Douglas fir trees as well as many walking and biking trails.  Stanley Park is also home to many birds (including bald eagles) and small to mid sized wildlife such as beavers, coyotes, and raccoons.  All this takes place at the edge of the West End, one of Canada’s densest neighborhoods.

Stanley Park is located in the downtown peninsula and has a wonderful seawall that goes around the whole waterside perimeter of the park.  The seawall is a very popular biking, jogging, and rollerblading path.   Some of the attractions within the park include the outstanding Vancouver Aquarium, the Stanley Park Children’s Farm (petting zoo), the Stanley Park Miniature Railway, and the Lost Lagoon Nature House. Also in the park is a collection of totem poles at Brockton Point, as well as several nice beaches, and several restaurants.  A substantial number of trees in the park were damaged by a huge storm in 2006, and recovery is still underway.

This park is huge and such a great place to go for walks!I've come here all throughout the year and it's fun anytime! I usually start by walking on the perimeter (also known as the Sea Wall) and deviate into one of the many paths within the park. There's lot's of photo opportunities from the totem poles, beaches, giant trees, sculptures, view of the lions gate bridge..fat squirrels. These squirrels wer originally a gift from New York like, 100 years ago and now they're everywhere and huge because people keep feeding them. There's a really good viewpoint called Prospect Point where a lot of tour buses stop because there's a restaurant and gift shop there, and you get a view of the North Shore mountains, the ocean, and the bridge over the Burrard inlet.

"A city that has been carved out of the forest should maintainsomewhere within its boundaries evidence of what it once was, and so longas Stanley Park remains unspoiled that testimony to the giant trees whichoccupied the site of Vancouver in former days will remain"The News Herald - October 30, 1939

Stanley Park is great. You can kayak, hike trails, stroll along the path, play at the pitch n putt, there are tons of things to photograph, there's a great tea house... you could spend days in the park alone. And there are fantastic views of the city and harbour from the park.

Magnificent view on the left the Ocean, on the right the Rockies... you can even manage to loose yourself in the woods inside this magnificent Park. This is just a small example of the beauties and the perfection that Vancouver offers to you when you take the time to discover it...

Stanley Park is a beautiful wooded area close to downtown Vancouver. It's also seaside, so you get the best of both; gorgeous plantlife and the serenity of the water. There are walking trails throughout the park, and the Vancouer Aquarium is in the park, also.

Beautiful area to spend the day at. Walking around looking at all the gorgeous flowers, plants, shrubs and trees! The ocean views along the promenade are a bonus! Grab a coffee, look at the animals and watch people too, a great way to spend the day!

For sure, there is much more to see in Vancouver but for those who love nature should go to Stanley Park. You can see the monument trees or some totems.
