Resort is open year round while the Mountains are opened on a seasonal basis (www.whistlerblackcomb.com)

Skiing/Snowboarding Season begins in Late November but will open earlier if there is snowfall. There are 2 mountains: Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain that are right besides each other and both accesible from the village. One lift ticket gets access to both mountains.

Another way to access Whistler Mountain is a stop called Creekside which is about 5-10 minutes before entering the main Whistler Village.

One mountain (usually Whistler in the past couple of years) will close in April. Blackcomb Mountain has a glacier that opens up for Summer Skiing/Snowboarding until mid July.
Sight Seeing can be done year round and the gondola ticket price is cheaper if you aren't skiing/snowboarding.

Blackcomb mountain also opens up a Mountain Biking Park in May.

Blackcomb Mountain is part of the Whistler/Blackcomb resort located in Whistler, British Columbia.

The Resort is comprised of 2 mountains: Whistler and Blackcomb which are both right besides each other and there is even a central location in the Whistler Village to take a gondola up either mountain - so the options are endless!

With that said, check out the reviews of "Whistler... " as well - it's pretty much the same!

EXCEPT

Blackcomb Mountain opens it's glacier in the Summer so you can enjoy Skiing/Snowboarding until July whereas Whistler mountain closes at the end of April (at least it has in the past 3 years).

A Whistler Blackcomb lift ticket will get to access to both mountains and in the past, you would probably want to just stick to one for the day. HOWEVER in DEC 2008, a peak to peak gondola is scheduled to open allowing you to transfer to the other mountain in supposedly 11 minutes.

SUMMER TIME:

Plenty of hiking trails, Mountain biking park, Sight seeing (you can take the gondola up)

Payment Accepted:

Drive up the Sea to Sky highway (Highway 99) from Vancouver. Take the bus from YVR or Greyhound Station located at Terminal Train Station.
Under 90 minutes by car. Closer to 2 hours by Greyhound Bus.

There's a reason I keep buying a season's pass here!

7th Heaven Area on Blackcomb has great open areas with stunning views.

New Symphony express chair on Whistler opens up some amazing terrain with a new run that was made to be more 'forest friendly' and has runs that are wide enough for those who are too scared to venture into 'tree runs' but you still feel like you are going through the trees! At least.. more so than a standard groomed run.

Locals are very friendly, and you see a great mix of people! There's always a ton of visitors!

LODGING ADVICE:
Stay in the village! Shuttle buses DO run on the half hour to most other places by the village (ie. village north) but they stop after a certain time (night) so this will impede your nightlife experience!
Also, if you stay in the village, you don't have to lug around equipment for so long.

This has more advanced ski runs just based on the trail maps and the ratio of green/blue/black runs.

Blackcomb has some amazing bowls that you have to do a bit of hiking too (still in bounds) with incredible views! There's a LOT to explore so you could easily spend more than a couple of days, (some days at Whistler, some days at Blackcomb..) which I can't say the same about other resorts I've been too!

You must go to 7th Heaven - it takes about 3 chairlifts and a cattrack to get to but the powder is AMAZING. As long as you're not a complete beginner, there is a wide range of runs!

Good terrain, good night life.... bad snow, expensive and crowded for such a large area. It is the largest resort in North America by almost 50%, but compared to the hidden gems you can be very disappointed. The resort has various of people living and working there, mostly Australian, English, Kiwi, Canadians from out east (Quebec and Ontario ... where the snow is ice), and various places in Europe and Japan. Make sure you get some Poutine at Zoggs.

this is one of the best places i have visited in Canada a sure good ski resort even if you come to whistler in the summer still cool even better get on the cable car to the top of this mountain amazing views

The drive up from Vancouver on the Sea to Sky highway is glorious---if the sun is out. I love this place in the summer.
