This park is easily accessable. You can take your bike, a bus, walk or drive, with plenty of Parking. One of the best days to be at Assiniboine Park is on Canada Day, as they have one of the best celebrations in Winnipeg. Check out their beautiful gardens, or visit the animals. There is a restaurant, public washrooms and plenty of fun to be had! Another great occasion is "Boo @ the Zoo", where people gather late at night for a well thought out Halloween theme. Bring the children for a scare or the free rides. If coming from Portage avenue, I suggest walking as you make your way over the bridge. A great view of the river. :)

With a facelift just this spring, a great place to unwind. The zoo and playground are hits with the kids, there is ample space for a picnic or family get-togethers, and the summer flowers are quite picturesque. Try Sargaent Sundae across the bridge for a summer treat ;)

This park/zoo was really fun to go to by comparison to MN zoos (even in the winter!). The layouts for the animals was very different from that of the states and the people are friendly to boot!

In addition there is a beautiful sculpture garden. The sculptures by Leo Mol, the ponds with waterlilies and lots of trees give this place an exquisite ambience.

Lots of green space. Great for playing sports or having picnics. Visit the zoo. During the winter there is tobogganing and skating on the duck pond.
